Chiaki-ng Setup Guide – Register & Connect Your PS5/PS4
Setting up chiaki-ng takes about five minutes: enable Remote Play on your PS5 or PS4, get your PSN Account ID (the app can log in to PlayStation for you since v1.6.0), register the console with the 8-digit PIN — or skip the PIN entirely on your home network thanks to automatic pinless registration (v1.9.4+) — then double-click the console to start streaming.
Before You Start: Network Checklist
- Your PS5/PS4 and the device running chiaki-ng must be on the same local network for the first registration.
- Turn off AP isolation / client isolation on your router (often hidden under “Guest network” or “Wireless advanced” settings) — it blocks the automatic console discovery.
- Disable any VPN on the device running chiaki-ng during setup; VPNs break local UDP discovery.
- For the smoothest stream later, connect your PS5/PS4 to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Setup in 4 Steps
- Enable Remote Play on your console.
On PS5: Settings → System → Remote Play → turn on Enable Remote Play.
On PS4: Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings → turn on Enable Remote Play. - Get your PSN Account ID.
The easiest way: since v1.6.0, chiaki-ng has a built-in PlayStation login right in the registration dialog — sign in once and the app fetches your Account ID automatically. This is a Base64-encoded token (not your username or email) that maps your profile across sessions. Prefer not to log in? The open-source lookup script in the project’sscripts/folder on GitHub is the manual alternative. - Register the console.
On your PS5, go to Settings → System → Remote Play → Link Device to display a temporary 8-digit PIN. On PS4: Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings → Add Device. In chiaki-ng, double-click the discovered console, enter your PSN Account ID and the PIN. On your local network you can skip the PIN entirely — v1.9.4 added automatic pinless registration for locally discovered consoles. - Connect and play.
Double-click the registered console in chiaki-ng’s main window. First run: open Settings → Video and pick a resolution/bitrate your network can sustain (the default 15,000 Kbps matches Sony’s official app).

Quick Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Console not discovered | Same network? AP isolation off? VPN off? Try entering the console’s local IP manually in the registration dialog. |
| PIN rejected or expired | PINs are temporary — generate a fresh one on the console and enter it promptly. |
| “Session failed to start” right after clicking | Update your console firmware; toggle automatic registration or use the manual IP. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to give chiaki-ng my PSN password?
No. You never hand your password to this website or any third party. Your PSN Account ID is fetched through an in-app PlayStation login window (added in v1.6.0), which talks to Sony directly — or you can use the open-source lookup script instead if you prefer not to log in at all.
What exactly is the PSN Account ID?
It is a Base64-encoded identifier tied to your PlayStation Network account — not your username, email, or password. Chiaki-ng needs it once, during console registration, to map your user profile across streaming sessions.
My 8-digit PIN keeps getting rejected. What should I do?
PINs expire quickly. On your PS5 go to Settings → System → Remote Play → Link Device (PS4: Settings → Remote Play Connection Settings → Add Device) to generate a fresh code, then enter it in chiaki-ng immediately. On your local network you can also use automatic pinless registration and skip the PIN.
Chiaki-ng cannot find my console. How do I fix discovery?
Check the network checklist: both devices on the same LAN, router AP/client isolation disabled, no VPN active on the streaming device. If discovery still fails, type the console’s local IP address directly into the registration dialog instead of relying on auto-discovery.
Can I register more than one console or PSN profile?
Yes. Register each console separately in chiaki-ng, and each PSN profile needs its own registration with its own Account ID. Registrations are stored per profile, so family members can each set up their own.
