Wake & Sleep Your PS5/PS4 Remotely with Chiaki-ng

Since v1.9.9, chiaki-ng can wake your PS5 or PS4 from rest mode and put it back to sleep — on Windows and macOS (and Linux builds too). Enable two settings in your console’s rest-mode power options (‘Stay Connected to the Internet’ and ‘Enable Turning On from Network’), and chiaki-ng sends the wake signal for you automatically.

Console Settings (Do This Once)

Wake only works from rest mode — a fully powered-off console cannot be woken remotely.

Console Path Enable both
PS5 Settings → System → Power Saving → Features Available in Rest Mode Stay Connected to the Internet
Enable Turning On PS5 from Network
PS4 Settings → Power Save Settings → Set Functions Available in Rest Mode Stay Connected to the Internet
Enable Turning On PS4 from Network

How Wake Works in Chiaki-ng

  1. Put the console in rest mode (not fully off) when you are done playing.
  2. Click the console in chiaki-ng.
On your home network, chiaki-ng sends a wake-up packet over the LAN automatically — no extra button to press. This wake/sleep support was added in v1.9.9 for Windows and macOS and works in the Linux builds as well.
  3. End the session to sleep.
When you disconnect, chiaki-ng can return the console to rest mode, so you are not leaving it running all day.
Waking from outside your home additionally needs the
remote-over-internet setup (PSN registration and a reachable network path) —
the console must be reachable through your router for the wake signal to arrive.

Wake Failures: Troubleshooting

Symptom Check
Console never wakes Is it in rest mode (orange light) rather than fully off? Are both rest-mode settings above enabled?
Wakes at home, not away Remote wake needs the internet path — see the WAN setup guide; verify port forwarding / NAT.
Worked before, stopped working Router firmware updates sometimes re-enable AP isolation or block broadcast packets — re-check those settings. Also confirm the console’s IP has not changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which chiaki-ng versions support waking the console?

Automatic wake and sleep support was added in v1.9.9 for Windows and macOS, and it works in the Linux / Steam Deck builds as well. Update to the latest stable (v1.10.0) to get it plus all subsequent fixes.

Can chiaki-ng wake my PS5 when I am away from home?

Yes, but two things must be true: the console is in rest mode with the network wake settings enabled, and chiaki-ng can reach it over the internet — which means completing the remote-over-internet setup (PSN registration, working NAT/port path).

Why won't my console wake up?

The three usual causes: (1) the console is fully powered off instead of rest mode — only rest mode can be woken; (2) ‘Stay Connected to the Internet’ / ‘Enable Turning On from Network’ got disabled (check after system updates); (3) the router blocks the wake packet — disable AP isolation and confirm the console’s IP address.

Does the console have to stay in rest mode all the time?

Only when you want remote access. Rest mode uses minimal power. When you are home and playing locally, shut it down fully if you prefer — just remember a fully-off console cannot be woken remotely.
