Frequently Asked Questions
Is chiaki-ng free for Windows?
Yes. Chiaki-ng is free and open-source software released under the GNU AGPLv3 license. There is no paid version, no trial, and no feature locked behind payment.
Should I choose the portable ZIP or the installer EXE?
Pick the installer EXE if you want a normal Windows app with Start-menu shortcuts. Pick the portable ZIP if you want to run it from any folder or USB stick without touching the registry. Both are the same program.
Does chiaki-ng work on Windows on ARM (Snapdragon PCs)?
Yes. Since v1.9.7 there are native Windows ARM64 builds, so it runs natively on Snapdragon / ARM-based Windows PCs — no emulation needed.
winget says the package cannot be found. What should I do?
First run winget source update to refresh the package index, then retry winget install --id=StreetPea.chiaki-ng -e. If it still fails, download the installer or portable ZIP directly from the official GitHub releases page.
Do I need a PlayStation Network account to use chiaki-ng?
You need your PSN Account ID once, during console registration. Since v1.6.0 chiaki-ng can log in to PlayStation right inside the GUI to fetch it for you — no scripts or packet captures required.
