Windows gaming handhelds like the ROG Ally, Legion Go and MSI Claw are just small Windows PCs — so chiaki-ng runs on them exactly like it does on a desktop. Install the Windows build, pick 720p/60 for the best balance of smoothness and battery life, and your PS5 streams to a handheld that Sony’s official…
Chiaki-ng supports motion controls, and on Steam Deck you have two paths to gyro aiming: the Deck’s built-in gyro via Steam Input configuration, or a real DualSense connected over Bluetooth/USB whose gyro chiaki-ng reads directly. Both work — but exact behavior depends on your setup, so treat fine mapping details below as to be verified…
Chiaki-ng can stream HDR from your PS5 to Steam Deck — but only when the whole chain cooperates: your PS5 outputs HDR, chiaki-ng runs under gamescope (Steam Deck game mode) on v1.5.0 or newer, and your display handles HDR. On a Deck OLED this chain is complete; on the LCD model it ends in SDR….
To run chiaki-ng in Steam Deck game mode, add it as a non-Steam game pointing at the Chiaki-launcher.sh script inside the Flatpak config folder, set up a Steam controller layout, and add cover art. Game mode gives you the couch-friendly fullscreen experience plus HDR support; desktop mode stays easier for first-time setup and troubleshooting. New…
Chiaki-ng is a free, open-source PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 Remote Play client developed by the community project streetpea/chiaki-ng. It streams your PS4 or PS5 games over your local network or the internet to Windows, macOS, Linux, Steam Deck, and Nintendo Switch devices, with low-latency video, HDR support, and advanced controller features. Chiaki-ng and the…
Yes — chiaki-ng is safe to use. It is free, open-source software (GNU AGPLv3) whose entire source code is public and auditable, it connects directly to your own console over your local network, and it never sends your credentials to third-party servers. The honest caveats: it is not endorsed by Sony, and — like any…
Since v1.9.9, chiaki-ng can wake your PS5 or PS4 from rest mode and put it back to sleep — on Windows and macOS (and Linux builds too). Enable two settings in your console’s rest-mode power options (‘Stay Connected to the Internet’ and ‘Enable Turning On from Network’), and chiaki-ng sends the wake signal for you…
Yes — chiaki-ng can stream your PS5 or PS4 over the internet when you are away from home. Register the console through PSN (not just local discovery), and v1.10.0’s improved NAT port guessing and hole-punching will usually connect you with zero router changes. If it does not, manually forwarding ports 9295–9297 (UDP/TCP) is the reliable…
Setting up chiaki-ng takes about five minutes: enable Remote Play on your PS5 or PS4, get your PSN Account ID (the app can log in to PlayStation for you since v1.6.0), register the console with the 8-digit PIN — or skip the PIN entirely on your home network thanks to automatic pinless registration (v1.9.4+) —…
